I ask people who live in Hong Kong or take classes there, if people on the street, in shops or restaurants to speak Mandarin. I know Cantonese is the official language, I only ask that if I learn Mandarin in Hong Kong, I could use it outside the classroom? If I can not go to polluted Beijing.

I want to learn it in college, but my major will be business (so Chinese would be taken on the side just for "fun" if you wish so to speak). Is it possible to try to learn it while focusing on my other business classes? How difficult is it to learn?
