When you go to an exotic new country, to one of the best parts of the experience will be sampling new flavors of local restaurants.

Thailand is no exception. This is a land of culinary delights. From extra spicy with thought-provoking angry you will find a wide selection of local foods that will delight your taste buds, fill your stomach and absorb tons of liquor before hitting the town.

Thai food is typically strong and have lots of herbs and spices, a couple of reasons.

A Thai love spicy food, and two, spices often medical purposes.

Many of us from the major western cities that already have a pretty good idea of what Thai food is from our own local restaurants. Still, the food here is, of course, would be better made with local ingredients, and not just what you expect.

The first big difference you'll notice is that there is no knife in your setting. Instead you get a spoon!

This goes back to ancient Buddhist customs, when a large piece of meat would be deeply offensive, and so each piece of meat or fish is already cut into small parts that can easily be brought to the mouth with a Thai place.

Another major difference is that Thais rarely eat alone and all parts each other's plates of food. Usually when two Thais go out together, the three courses. If three Thais go out together, the four courses, and so on and so forth.

Soup is also equipped with every meal, but unlike the West they do not eat it as a separate course. Instead, it is enjoyed at the same time as the main course as a way to incorporate a variety of tastes.

Almost all Thai dishes are served with a plate of rice.

Indian curry tends to burn in the mouth for a long Thai curry dishes, on the other hand, there is a tendency to burn hotter in the beginning, but quickly falls into the mouth. Almost all Thai food is spicy. Hot pepper is in most dishes. If you do not want spicy, so be sure to ask about it!

Indian curries are made from dried spices, while the Thai curries are made from fresh herbs.

A typical Thai meal includes a variety of courses, including:

Remember that Thailand is no distinction between breakfast, lunch and dinner. So you will not find large selection of cereals, as you would in most places. There are tons of restaurants that cater to foreigners, and have a good breakfast meals and buffets.

It is not unusual for Thai restaurants that serve food that it is ready. It is not considered impolite to start the meal when the food arrives. I've been in restaurants where I had finished my meal before my friend's food arrived.

It is not uncommon and not considered rude to eat when your plate arrives.

It is not uncommon for a group of order, and all share the same meal. I have seen many Thai For three plates of food and then just share the will. If you have an aversion to taking any food from your plate, you should make this clear, since most people who eat here do so in group settings, and it is seen as a part of the meal to share.

Most places to eat, will not offer "real" napkins or paper towel. Rather than give you toilet paper. Again, do not be offended by this. There is only one part of the course. You will also notice that after a meal, most Thai's get up and go to the room and wash hands thoroughly.

Tipping is not required, but it is much appreciated. I suggest a tip 20 baht to 100 baht for a meal. Everything depends on price. I know most who read this will disagree, but if you have a good meal, and you had a good service, provides a nice tip to your waiter. To do this, put the tip out bin. If you place the tip inside it shared with all employees, or go to the owner. If you want to tip your waitress, you pay the bin and think about each to give them 50 baht (or whatever amount you decide) in a second hand. This ensures that the tip goes to them.
